8th day of Firemoot - 3rd Day of Firewane: 1492

Mission:  To Cedarspoke.

CampaignFind Karion's missing Father

Location(s)Dawn Trader, Cedarspoke, Alaghon.

Present: Anor, Aramil, Bandur, Karion, Paskan

Morning of 9th: (Early hours)

Having restored the last surviving sailor to a modicum of health, Aramil, Karion and Anor retired to rest leaving Bandur, Paskan and the Sailor to sail the ship. About 1 hour later the air became heavy and without warning a storm lashed the ship. Unable to man the ship effectively but saving it from foundering in the heavy seas dawn broke on a silent calm sea, both masts were gone, the fore mast hanging over the side rigging stopping it sliding into the sea. Anor stopped Aramil who was chopping the rigging away and told them to prepare to haul the mast on board. Anor and the sailor kept the top 3rd of the mast and a sail, rigged to a jury sail and with that they managed to steer the ship towards the coastline to the south.

13th mid day

The battered Dawn Trader limped into the port of Cedarspoke. Armed guards met them as they tied up and ordered them to strip, they all obeyed the guards. Heavily armed with wicked looking spears with a circular open point with points pointing inward. For 8 days they were kept on deck. Aramil and Bandur were kept separate from the others but within sight. They watched as the full moon rose and fell. They were fed and watered and the air this far south was still warm at night.

22nd

With the last full moon passing last night the guards unshackled the group and set them free. Explaining that it was for their own good and the continued safety of Cedarspoke.

The group moved to the Hoe Inn, a dark seedy establishment but the only one that catered for strangers, travellers and the like in Cedarspoke. Bandur and Paskan got quietly drunk in the inn as Karion went to the College. He was informed to come back in 4 days.

25th

Karion returned to college, meeting with Shiala Torthren a Historian Librarian of the college. She informed Karion that she remembered his father who had been here some good few months back but had left with a group of Rangers heading for the Turmish Capital of Alaghon. Asking about the circumstances on arrival she informed him that the Cult of Malar had resurfaced and that lycanthropy was on the rise in the deep woods surrounding Cedarspoke. Every visitor was being treated the same. The only cure was a remove curse prayer of Greater Restoration or a dedicated potion that must be drunk as soon as a person was bitten. Karion showed her the letter and she confirmed the design on the seal was the mark of Malar.

Anor and Aramil had made enquiries as to when the Dawn Trader would be ready to sail. Not for 14 days at least. A new crew had to be found. They did manage to sell most of the exotic goods they liberated from th Duergar ship.

Returning, Karion asked if they knew of any ship departing for Alaghon. They returned to the docks and there was indeed a ship, the Flying Falcon, departing in 2 days for Aleghon.

27th

Having bought supplies, and some silvered arrows, bolts and weapons they boarded the Flying Falcon and left for Aleghon.

3rd day of Firewane

The Flying Falcon arrived Alaghon, they were directed to the elf quarter a herbalist might be found there who could help. There was 1 herbalist who acknowledge he had received a letter by ship that Karion's father intended to visit but first he must travel to Iron Fang Deep. The Deep was an independent Dwarf mountain city, they were aloof and untrustworthy of strangers. However they did like to trade for Aleghon exotic goods.
