1ST LEVEL - SO FAR

14th: Midight to 6am

Karion judged it was passed midnight and they were into a new day. They tried the grate which was the way indicated by Karion's spell. The grate wouldn't budge. They all tried, not an inch would it move.

Karion: "Look around for levers and things, try the other rooms we didn't look in".

They moved into the left room and noticed a strange design on the wall with writing underneath.

Paskan touched the central eye and they heard something open behind them. At the junction room a secret door had opened revealing a chamber within. On the floor was the same design as on the wall.

Aramil: "It looks the same but the design is different."

Paskan bent down and picked one of the stones up. It was loose, but half of it's depth was in a recess. Karion went off to check a room they had missed back down the other corridor.

Paskan moved the stone to one side.

Aramil: "Got it. Move the 4th stone down, move the 5th across, place that first stone you moved into the space. Now it looks like the symbols on the wall."

Paskan repeated his action but stood on the eye this time. Another click was heard.

Anor: "Where's Karion?"

Karion came into view moving sharply towards them.

Karion: "Somethings coming, big, gelatinous looking".

Around the corner came a.....

Bandur: "Gelatinous Cube. Nasty things. But they move slow."

Anor: "Bring it on..."

Anor fired two quick bolts at the Cube. Aramil fired off two bolts of fire. Karion tried the grate and it moved a fraction. Bandur assisted him and the grate slammed open.

Karion: "Lets try down here shall we?"

Anor tied his rope to a hinge and watched it disappear into darkness. Anor climbed down, followed by Karion, then Aramil, then Bandur and finally Paskan.

Aramil: Don't know if we did any damage to that thing but it was still coming on, slowly".

Anor went down some narrow stairs and turned right just as a very large, skeletal wolf like creature attacked him. He swung twice, thrice and the creature fell dead. He proceeded down some more steps, the others following, when suddenly he was blinded as Aramil cast light on his staff.

Aramil: "Bloody Paskan can't see, nearly pushed me down the stairs. This will brighten things up."

Anor didn't see the 2nd skeletal wolf creature attacking him as he swung blindly at the creature. Eventually killing it. He took off his goggles and stepped into the room. Karion close behind. The Aramil extinguished the light just as a Zombie Ogre launched a ferocious attack at Anor, Anor was now blinded again! The failing light blinded the Ogre's reactions and it missed both mighty swings.

Aramil stepped into the room but was knocked flying by a blindly charging Paskan who's wild swings made Aramils acid ball attack go wide and his own swings narrowly miss Anor.

The Ogre swiped back and forth hitting Paskan, Anor and the prone Aramil, twice. Mighty swings from Anor, Paskan and more magical attacks from Aramil killed the Zombie Ogre before more damage was done.

Opening the door out of the room Paskan found himself standing on a narrow platform. Before him stretched a rickety, old ladder bridge across a natural chasm. The bridge, if you could call it that was some 35ft long.

They decided they would go across lightest first. Each  person would take it in turns to be attached to the rope and the other end held onto by 2 strong individuals.

Karion was first across followed by Aramil. Anor followed but he fell through a broken plank but was pulled up by Paskan and Bandur. Anor thanked them and crossed over. Bandur crossed over but had to jump the gap. Anor grabbed Bandur's belt as they heard Paskan shout.

Paskan: "I'll run and leap over that gap like it was nothin..........arghhhhhhh".

Paskan broke the bridge completely. His fall slammed him into the opposite wall some 35 feet below Bandur. The force of the drop pulled Bandur over the edge. Anor fell with him. Bandur activated his Ring of Featherfall he would have landed softly had it not been for Anor slamming into him.

Anor quickly gave Paskan a flask of healing potion. They all managed to climb out safely.

A room lay on the other side of the chasm. A door way to the left opened up into a collapsed room. Anor shut the door and kicked open the double doors to the right.

He was charged by a horned beast on two legs brandishing a sword. He was hit hard but struck back just as hard.

Behind him he could hear Aramil chanting the words of his favourite spell.WHOOOMPH, the fireball lit up the room.

Anor free to fight a second creature, the first having died in the fireball blast and Bandur charged a 3rd. Aramil stepped into the room after Karion moved in and attacked a 4th. For a second time Aramil chanted his words and....

WHOOMPH, a second fireball erupted in the room. Only 1 of the 9 creatures remained standing and Bandur finished it off with ease.

Bandur: "Aramil just how are we unaffected yet the enemy are burned to a crisp?"

Aramil: "I can now protect you from the effects of my powerful spells so you have nothing to worry about".

Time was pressing so the group moved onwards. Anor kicking in another set of doors and moving into a room with a water canal crossed by a bridge of stone. As he ran through the room he spotted a creature rise out of the water and fire a water blast at him but it missed. It slid below the water before he could attack back. The others ran through and Bandur was attacked but again missed.

More doors opened which led into a curving passage way. 4 statues stood guard before respective tomb entrances. Anor moved to search a side corridor before opening (kicking in) another set of double doors. He heard muttering. As the group progressed they came across a 'Rat' like humanoid.

Rat: "Oh, yes, more bother. Well I aint found it you can tell him. Go on stick me with that big sword of yours, get it over with".

Anor: "What are you wittering on about, who are you?, What are you?"

Garjuk: " I am Garjuk, I am a wererat and you aint with him are you? More deep shit!"

Karion: "Do you know where the High Priest is?"

Garjuk: "And if I tell you, you'll let me go?"

Karion: "If you help us find him, yes".

Garjuk: "Can't do that. Don't know where he is but I can tell you how to find him and what he wants.....oops, shouldn't have said that".

Karion: "Well if you tell us what he wants and how to find him, we will let you go."

Garjuk: "Ok, well it has to do with this stone book, a secret door in that corner. and what he wants from inside. Which he said I had to get and bring it to him 'cause he was in a big hurry and all with the full moon coming."

Karion began to read out loud from the stone book held by the statue of the Elf made of stone.

Two as one can win the day,

The one with two shows the way,

Brave the blade to break the seal,

Twist the knife, it will reveal.

Bandur confirmed there was a secret door but he could not locate any mechanism to open it within the room.

Anor: "Oh let's just go kick those doors in."

Aramil: "Yes, it might be in that room, behind the doors. It might refer to two of us. Bandur and Anor or Karion and I".

Paskan: "I think it might be to do with the statues in front of the tombs.

They checked the statues first and Paskan was right. Two were definitely twins and one of the twins had a scimitar and a dagger. Paskan twisted the dagger and they heard a scraping noise coming from the room with the secret door.

Back in the room the door had indeed opened and a sarcophagus with the image of a women carved upon it was revealed. A light touch on the lid was all it took for the top to turn with ease. Inside were the following:

A scroll written in Draconic which Paskan read out:

"We who rest still long to serve. If you seek the same, take our goods and be blessed. If greed moved this stone and not a true heart, may our curse find you ere we awake".

A rod -  claimed by Aramil

A Dagger with a moon stone and a sunstone on opposite side of the hilt - Claimed by Karion

An expertly made scimitar - Claimed by Paskan

An empty quiver - Claimed by Bandur

A pair of arm Bracers - Claimed by Karion

Karion: "Now Garjuk where did the high priest go and what did he want from this room?"

Garjuk: "He went through those doors two days ago but he aint come back. He wanted the dagger. Said it was important."

True to their word they let Garjuk go. He headed back the way they had come. A few minutes later they heard a scream and a splash come from the room with the water canal.

Anor: "I wonder if he slipped".
